We've made an effort to make installing and upgrading KnownOutage as easy as possible, including a full featured install script that will handle database population and upgrade.  All you need to do is create a database, upload the files, then run the installer.

Installing Knownoutage

  1. Order KnownOutage.  You should receive an email with a download link.  If you don't receive an email, or it is blocked, you can manually download KnownOutage by:
    1. Click "Sign In" in the upper right hand of this page (if you aren't currently signed in).
    2. Click on your name in the upper right of the page to be taken to the "My Account" page.
    3. On this page click on "Order History and downloads".
    4. Select the download link and then click on the "Product (click to download)" link.
  2. Unzip the file using the "folders" option. This will create a folder called /upload/
  3. Upload the contents of /upload/ to your server.
  4. Create a database (mysql or mariadb) for KnownOutage to access, as well as a user with full access to the database.  Make note of the database, username and password - this will be required during the install.
  5. In your browser, go to your install url - it should look like http://<your server>/install
  6. Walk throught the various install steps.
  7. Once the installer completes successfully, delete the /install folder from your server.

Upgrading Knownoutage

  1. Backup the current database and files to a folder on your local PC.

    2. Click on your name in the upper right of the page to be taken to the "My Account" page.
    3. On this page click on "Order History and downloads".
    4. Select the download link and then click on the "Product (click to download)" link.
  4. Unzip the file using the "folders" option. This will create a folder called /upload/
  5. Upload the contents of /upload/ to your server.
  6. In your browser, go to your install url - it should look like http://<your server>/install
  7. Walk throught the various install steps.  If there are database changes the installer will make these automatically.
